Strictly necessary

Two things are stored so the site works at all: your language choice, so the site stays in the language you picked, and your cookie choice itself, so we do not ask again on every page.

If you sign in, a session token is stored so you stay signed in. These cannot be switched off, because without them the feature they belong to does not function.

Analytics — optional, off by default

Analytics help us see which pages are useful and where the service is confusing. Nothing analytics-related loads until you opt in, and refusing costs you no functionality.

We use Google Analytics 4. When — and only when — you turn analytics on, we load Google’s script and it sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<stream id> to tell repeat visits apart. Nothing is requested from Google before that moment.

Turning analytics back off switches collection off and deletes those cookies from your browser. Advertising signals stay denied throughout unless you also turn marketing on.

Marketing — optional, off by default

Marketing cookies would let us measure advertising. They are off unless you turn them on, and you can turn them back off from Cookie settings in the footer at any time.
